How Safe is Kratom?

Kratom or Mitragyna speciosa is a tropical deciduous and evergreen tree in the coffee family native to Southeast Asia in the Indochina and Malaysia floristic regions. Its leaves are used for its many potential medicinal benefits. However, people have been hesitant if it is really safe or not. It is extremely safe if taken responsibly. If you overuse it, then a habit may form. It is important to just take it occasionally rather than daily. When taking Kratom for the first time, you should take it once a week only. Better if you take it once or twice a month to make sure that it does not become a habit. If you have friends who are using Kratom, let them know!

Responsible intake of Roi Kratom does not post any health issues. In Thailand, frequent intake results to people being dependent on it and they have lost weight and developed dark pigmentation on the face. Once they quit abruptly, some of the withdrawal symptoms they experience are runny nose, diarrhea, muscle aches and jerkin, uncontrollable crying and irritability. Some people even have allergic or other reaction despite responsible use.

It is suggested that Kratom should not be mixed with drugs or substances that are of stimulant type. These include coffee, yohimbine, amphetamines, and other illegal drugs because they pose risk or over-stimulation or increased blood pressure. Also, you should not take it along with large amounts of alcohol, opiates, benzodiazepines, or other types of drugs that affects the nervous system. The combination may cause over-sedation and possible respiratory distress. You should never combine it with any kind of MAO inhibitors because they could be serious and even fatal reactions when combined with monoamine drugs because it contains monoamine alkaloids.

Some users have found some combinations that they claim to be both pleasant and safe. It can be used together with black tea or tea made from red poppy flowers or blue lotus. Some even enjoy smoking tobacco or herbal smoke while they are under the influence of Kratom. To be safe, don't ever fall asleep or drop lit materials when doing so.

In most countries, including Europe and the United States, Kratom is currently legal. However, it is illegal in Australia, Burma, Malaysia and Thailand where severe penalties are imposed when you are caught in possession of the herb. Because laws usually change, you should double check first before using it to make sure that it is legal in your location.

You can buy Kratom from many online merchants and they are available in the form of dried leaves, extracts or both. Some vendors even advertise different grades at different prices. However, users say that there is very little difference among these grades. Just make sure to buy from a reputable company to avoid any health concerns. For more information, visit http://www.huffingtonpost.com/medical-discovery-news-/kratom-treating-addiction_b_9857134.html.
